What is deep conditioning?

Careful, I’m not talking about regular hair conditioner sweety.

Essentially you want to restore your hair strand by deep conditioning. So it can take on all of the daily hair stressors with minimum damage.

Deep conditioners contain surfactants short for “surface-active agent” that temporary repairs your hair shaft by adhering to the gaps of damage in the hair strand. (Due to the positive charge in the deep conditioners and our hair naturally having a negative charge, they just bond together making our hair stronger.)

When should I deep condition?

  • If your hair has been taking a beating and it’s dry and damaged, repeat this once a week.
  • Healthy but you use a lot of styling tools, do it once a week.
  • Your hair is healthy and you do not use any styling tools, every two weeks.

Today there are tons of hair masks that claim to deep moisturize and repair the hair. A lot of them work and a lot of them are just a waste of money. This is why DIY masks are always going to be a good idea.

Herbs and plants have been used throughout the years to heal and moisturize human hair.

For this and many more reason we should include them on our hair care routine.
