Hellooo my hair lovers, today I want to talk about how I learned to rock hair beanies, where they come from, how to protect your hair through winter and also how not to damage your hair while wearing a beanie and more.
Let me tell you that I wore a beanie for the first time when I was like 19 years old lol I know crazy right? The country where I grew up has a year-round tropical climate, so why would I need one? lol.
Ok too much talking now Let’s start where it began:
There are traces of early beanies in European Nordic folklore like elves or “nisses” mythological creature typically associated with the winter solstice and the Christmas season that wear an iconic long puffy end, most likely because of heavy winter months in those countries.
As well as being typically popular among fishermen and lumberjacks for decades because of their exposure to harsh weathers due to labor. Before the 90’s some beanies used to have visors incorporated in them.

During the mid-’90s and 00, it began taking some notice from urban culture. Such as grunge bands and extreme sports like skateboarding and snowboarding. Propelling it as an accessory and gaining significant popularity.
It didn’t take long for the fashion industry to give it more attention and innovate with it’s design like adding double puffy ends, long straps, fur coatings, patterns, and colors. Although even without any alterations we can agree it looks great, proving its timeless design.
STRAIGHT HAIR: You can comb it to get your style and volume back.
CURLY HAIR: Use your fingers to slightly ruffle your hair and go back to your natural shape.
DON’TS
• Don’t put a beanie over damp or wet hair.
• Don’t use tight beanies ( loose fitting beanies are best for the hair)
